Fall and Winter Nail Polish for 2012

Hey Beauties!

Here are my top picks for fall/winter 2012 for nail polish!  You can see my favourite Holiday polishes for 2012 here =)

The colour-wheel!

L–>R: Butter London – British Racing Green, China Glaze – Harvest Moon, Essie – Wrapped in Rubies, Essie – Buy Me A Cameo

British Racing Green: A gorgeous hunter green creme polish, one of my overall favourites!

Harvest Moon: A beautiful shimmery bronze/copper with a metallic finish.

Wrapped in Rubies: One of the most unique colours in my collection.  A burnished red with copper shimmer, stunning!

Buy Me  A Cameo: My favourite neutral polish.  A warm shimmery champagne colour, perfect with a french manicure.

L–>R: OPI – Yoga-ta Get This Blue, Orly – Bus Stop Crimson, OPI – Vampsterdam

Yoga-ta Get This Blue: Deep royal blue with blue shimmer running through it, but not so dark it looks almost black.

Bus Stop Crimson: Deep crimson creme.  This one lives on my toes all fall and winter!

Vampsterdam: One of my all-time favourites.  A very deep burgundy-purple, with the slightest hint of shimmer, my ideal fall polish!

L–>R: Orly – Liquid Vinyl, Butter London – Knackered, China Glaze – Smoke and Ashes, China Glaze – Hook and Line

Liquid Vinyl: A pure black creme, an essential for any polish collection.

Knackered: Such a unique and gorgeous polish!  Truly makes the “galaxy nail” effect when layered over black.

Smoke and Ashes: Black polish with blue/green duochrome fine glitter running through it.  The duochrome doesn’t show up the same on the nail as in the bottle though =(.

Hook and Line: A great cool-toned neutral for winter.  It gives your nails a sort of icy effect without wearing white polish.  This is what I would transition Buy Me A Cameo into.

Hope you enjoyed this post, and be sure to check out the video for more details!

What are your favourite polishes for fall/winter?  Are you like me and prefer to wear dark, saturated nail colours?

NOTD: China Glaze “Smoke and Ashes”

Hey Beauties!

Just a quick Nail of the Day post for you all =)

Today I was feeling the darker fall/winter colours, so I went with a new polish that I got a while ago but haven’t had a chance to try yet: China Glaze “Smoke and Ashes” from the Hunger Games Collection.  I actually picked this up when it was on clearance at Sally’s about a month ago, I couldn’t pass it up for only $2.50!

I had heard many mixed reviews about this polish, some girls love it and some are underwhelmed.  Just looking at the colour in the bottle is hypnotizing, so many blue and green holographic glitters in a black base.  Here’s what it looks like!

The blurry-ness brings out the duo-chrome!

What do you think?  Do you guys like black polish?  Did you get any of the polishes from this collection?

Sigma Brush Review and Free Shipping!

Hey Beauties!

I am finally doing the post about those Sigma brushes that I had wanted for so long!  I can now say how much I love them, I honestly use these brushes every time I do my makeup.  They are unbelievably soft, and make the experience of putting on your makeup feel just a little bit more luxurious =).  I bought the SigMax essentials kit (a synthetic, vegan brush kit) that came with 4 face brushes and 4 precision brushes.  You will see that all of the brushes seem to come in pairs, with a “momma” face brush and a “baby” precision brush.  Neat idea!  I think that the kit has now changed to contain 5 face brushes and 5 precision brushes, I’m sad that I missed out!

Here is an overview of what the kit contained when I bought it:

The Sigmax Kits

The 8 Face (F) and Precision (P) brushes in the Sigmax kit

P84 Precision Angled and F84 Angled Kabuki

F84 Angled Kabuki and P84 Precision Angled

The F84 is my all time favourite brush for liquid foundations!  The angle is perfect to get all around your nose and under your eyes, but the rounded top is perfect for buffing in for a flawless finish. I use the P84 for cream eyeshadow products to easily blend over the entire eye area as a base.

F82 Round Top Kabuki and P82 Precision Round

F82 Round Top Kabuki and P82 Precision Round

The F82 is my ideal brush for cream contour, as I find the stiffer, rounded shape fits perfectly into the hollows of my cheeks.  It is amazingly soft, but still dense enough to blend the product in flawlessly so there are no streaks or lines.  The P82 is the brush that I use for cream concealer around my face to cover blemishes or redness.  Use it in a dabbing motion to cover a blemish and blend away the edges without removing all of the product.

F80 Flat Top Kabuki and P80 Precision Flat

F80 Flat Top Kabuki and P80 Precision Flat

I use the F80 to buff in cream blush products to ensure just a nice flushed finish with no lines or streaks.  It is great for this, and won’t just blend all of the product right off of your face!  I use the P80 for precision highlighting and contouring in areas such as around my nose, the inner corner of my eye, or just a very small precise area on my cheekbones.

F86 Tapered Kabuki and P86 Precision Tapered

I use the F86 for my BB creams, cream foundations, cream highlighters, or to blend in large areas of concealer on my face.  It is a very versatile brush!  I use the P86 to blend the concealer under my eyes.  I find the pointed shape is perfect for getting right into the inner corner where I have purplish undertones up quite high, and also for getting right up to the bottom lashes without poking yourself in the eye =).

These are my favourite brushes to use now and you can get your hands on them here!
