Open With Me: March Glam Bag!

Hey Beauties!

I’m going rapid-fire with these because I need to get caught-up (as usual) before I can post my April boxes!  My April Glam Bag has arrived a few days ago, and it sitting there in it’s pretty pink packaging taunting me!  I’m not letting myself open it until these posts are finished!

First off, how adorable is the theme this month!  It is called “The Great Escape” and has a sailor-themed bag!  So cute.DSC07778

Anyways, here are the goodies!

DSC07779

First we have La Fresh makeup remover wipes.  I love having these in handy travel sized pouches.  I use them all the time and they are so much more portable than makeup remover!  This package contains 8 wipes, so it is perfect for a weeks’ vacation.  They are a moisturizing formula with vitamin e, and they smell a bit like baby powder (which I really hope doesn’t stick around).  The package claims that “Travel-saavy women around the glove rave about La Fresh Travel Lite Makeup Remover Wipes.  That’s because they instantly dissolve even heavy-duty makeup with a silky, lite-touch formula.  Perfectly portable, La Fresh makes beauty a breeze when you’re on-the-go.”  Well, if they can really get off all of my makeup without me having to scrub (I’m looking at you waterproof mascara!) then I will be sold.

Next up is a product that I tried (see video for awkwardness…) and I can’t tell if it really did anything beneficial for my skin, but it smelled and felt amazing!  It is the Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist that “tones and refreshes”.  “Tone with this refreshing blend of rosehip, ylang ylang, resveratrol, grapeseed oil and antioxidant-rich organic juices for a fresh, radiant complexion”.  Sounds pretty amazing!  It is certified organic (contains a minimum of 95% organic ingredients) and I do recognize a lot of the ingredients from my work in the natural health care industry.  Who knows if it will do anything amazing for my skin, but I know it will be a great pick-me-up on those hot summer days =).  It is 30mL, which is a hefty sample!  Full size is 200mL and retails for $20 on their website.

Next we have a handy little magnetic travel palette from GlamRX.  It looks red in the photo, but it is really a nice bright pink!  I realize that I didn’t take any photos for a size comparison, but it is a little bit bigger than the palm of my (quite small) hands.  I would say that it is the perfect size to fit in one of the phone pockets in your purse.  It has a magnetic closure (I would put an elastic band around it if you are going to throw it in your purse, it’s not the strongest) and also a magnetic pan inside.DSC07782

Inside you can see the last two products that were in the bag: yaby eyeshadows!  I have never tried yaby before.  I ALMOST bought some of their eyeshadows a couple of years ago, but that was back when I balked at the shipping costs when shopping online…  The two colours that I got are “Sand Dune” (L) and “So Vein” (R).  They are both matte finish, which is nice and seem to be decently pigmented.  Sand Dune is a little bit dark for me to use as a match for my skin tone, but it might work nicely to blend out darker crease colours.  So Vein (I love that name!) is less pigmented, which I really like, because I don’t usually wear those insane crazy colours on my eyes.  This will be easy to blend out for a subtle pop of colour!  It is a beautiful green-leaning teal colour.DSC07783

As you can see they fit nicely in this palette, but I would try to fill it up a bit more, because I do find that they slide around and they might crack.

I hope you enjoyed this post!  Be sure to follow for more like this =)

What did you guys get in your bag that is different?  Did you get different eyeshadows?  A different coloured palette?

Open With Me: March Birchbox!

Hey Beauties!

I’m not going to technically consider myself late on this one because my April Birchbox hasn’t arrived yet! ^_^

DSC07748

The theme is “March Madness”.  Getting a little sporty are we Birchbox??

First up is Oscar Blandi Hair Lift Mousse.  “Inflate limp locks with this innovative volume reviving mousse.  Made with high-tech ingredients (ooohhh!) it amplifies each strand for voluminous hair that looks and feels full of life.”  Full size is $23

This is a nice travel size (1oz), and I can’t wait to see if it works!  I wasn’t overly thrilled with the volumizing hairspray from them that I got in a previous box, so fingers crossed!

Next is Wish Shave Crave Shaving Cream.  “The organic shea butter in this foam-free shaving cream makes for an insanely close shave and leaves skin incredibly soft.”  Full size is $20.  This is a 0.75fl oz sample.  I think it will last me about 5 shaves maybe?  It will be perfect to take on vacation to the beach, because I really don’t have any travel sized shaving cream right now!  It is a blueberry scent according to the tube.  To me it smells like grape Flinstones vitamins.  Did anyone else take those as a kid?  The really cool shapes, but awful flavours in the chewable vitamins.  It reminds me of that…DSC07751

This is a really cool sample!  It is a “MAKE” eyeshadow.  I’ve never heard of this brand before, have any of you used it?  “This new brand’s pretty pigments have serious staying power, and we love that one third of all sales are donated to charity.”  Full size is $18.  This sample is 0.85g, it’s in a tiny little compact but the eyeshadow itself is a decent size!  I would say that it is about the size of an Urban Decay shadow that you would get in one of their palettes?  I love that a portion of the sales goes to charities, and 1/3 is a large chunk!  The colour is “Santa Fe” which is a really beautiful peachy-gold with a slight shimmer.  This will be great if I manage to not lose it!

Next up is another MAKE product.  This is their Face Primer Broad Spectrum SPF 30.  “Pump up your makeup’s endurance and protect skin with this two-in-one base and SPF.”  Full size is $30.  This is a 0.18oz (5.1g) sample.  As you can see it comes out a milky-white colour, but this totally disappears once you blend it in.  One of the active sunscreen ingredients is zinc oxide, so that would be where the colour comes from.  That’s great because it means it is a physical sunscreen, which is much more effective and better for you!  It also doesn’t contain oxybenzone (which may be carcinogenic when exposed to UV radiation) or avobenzone (which is not as bad as oxybenzone, but still not great).  I haven’t tried this on my face yet, but I will be saving it to take travelling with me!

Finally we have the little “Beauty Extra” that is included in every box.  This month it is a Madewell for Birchbox Emery Board.  It has a cute floral pattern, and is your typical rough emery board, same texture on both sides.  This would be useful for taking off length, but I would always use a finer one afterwards to polish off the edges.  It is a $5 value.DSC07756

I hope you enjoyed this post!  As you can tell I tend to save a lot of the samples that I get in my boxes for when I travel because they are always the perfect size!  Sorry that means that I can’t always review them for you =S

What did you guys get in your boxes?  Let me know down below, and be sure to check out Birchbox here if you don’t already subscribe!

Catching Up: USA Haul

Hey beauties, This one is from May 6, 2012:

This is going to be a big one…  I spent most of Jan-March in the United States (Maryland) with my fiancee!  First I was just visiting, and then I wound up going back to do an internship with an equine veterinarian.  Such an amazing experience.  It is my goal to one day be a veterinarian =).

Anyways, while I was down there I (of course) did a bit of shopping!  I love shopping in Deleware…  no sales tax!  I did some online shopping too.  Here’s what I bought:

A set of NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams in (L to R): Amsterdam – bright true red, Addis Ababa – bright fuchsia pink, Milan – soft nudish pink, London – mocha brown, Istanbul – soft baby pink.  I will do a full review on these, I love them!!

These were my first ever Hautelook purchase =D

OCC: Matte nail polish topcoat and Lip Tar!  From http://www.occmakeup.com/

MAC Eyeshadow in Humid, from Cosmetic Company Outlet – such an amazing store!!

The Balm Eyeshadow in Luscious Lani out of a My Glam bag  http://www.myglam.com/

This is a shimmery champagne colour similar to Sin by Urban Decay.

Sheer Cover concealer from My Glam bag as well.  LOVE this stuff!

Urban Decay Ink For Eyes gel eyeliner in Zero, Urban Decay Primer Potion Minis, and Urban Decay 24/7  Eyeshadow Pencils from a Hautelook purchase!

Neutrogena Healthy Skin makeup from drugstores, I will do reviews on all of the products I have from this line.

Julep cuticle oil from a Julep Maven box

Napoleon Perdis colour disk in 27 (matte grey) from a Hautelook purchase

Lorac goodies!!  A sheer lipstick in Just Kissed, two Co-Stars (lip glosses) in First Kiss (pink) and Steamy Kiss (red), and two lip pencils in 09 (peachy brown) and 03 (burgundy red).

I found this little gem in Urban Outfitters at the mall, for $5!!

Sadly it got a little bit destroyed on the way home, but I will do a post showing you the damage and how I fixed it =)

And finally…  all of my new nailpolish!! <3<3  Can you tell that I love nail polish? =D

I will do a post of my entire nailpolish collection in detail and tell you guys my favourites.

Hope you enjoyed this haul!  I know they’re not quite the same on blogs as they are on youtube…
