Fall and Winter Nail Polish for 2012

Hey Beauties!

Here are my top picks for fall/winter 2012 for nail polish!  You can see my favourite Holiday polishes for 2012 here =)

The colour-wheel!

L–>R: Butter London – British Racing Green, China Glaze – Harvest Moon, Essie – Wrapped in Rubies, Essie – Buy Me A Cameo

British Racing Green: A gorgeous hunter green creme polish, one of my overall favourites!

Harvest Moon: A beautiful shimmery bronze/copper with a metallic finish.

Wrapped in Rubies: One of the most unique colours in my collection.  A burnished red with copper shimmer, stunning!

Buy Me  A Cameo: My favourite neutral polish.  A warm shimmery champagne colour, perfect with a french manicure.

L–>R: OPI – Yoga-ta Get This Blue, Orly – Bus Stop Crimson, OPI – Vampsterdam

Yoga-ta Get This Blue: Deep royal blue with blue shimmer running through it, but not so dark it looks almost black.

Bus Stop Crimson: Deep crimson creme.  This one lives on my toes all fall and winter!

Vampsterdam: One of my all-time favourites.  A very deep burgundy-purple, with the slightest hint of shimmer, my ideal fall polish!

L–>R: Orly – Liquid Vinyl, Butter London – Knackered, China Glaze – Smoke and Ashes, China Glaze – Hook and Line

Liquid Vinyl: A pure black creme, an essential for any polish collection.

Knackered: Such a unique and gorgeous polish!  Truly makes the “galaxy nail” effect when layered over black.

Smoke and Ashes: Black polish with blue/green duochrome fine glitter running through it.  The duochrome doesn’t show up the same on the nail as in the bottle though =(.

Hook and Line: A great cool-toned neutral for winter.  It gives your nails a sort of icy effect without wearing white polish.  This is what I would transition Buy Me A Cameo into.

Hope you enjoyed this post, and be sure to check out the video for more details!

What are your favourite polishes for fall/winter?  Are you like me and prefer to wear dark, saturated nail colours?

Catching Up: May Glymm Bag!

Hey lovelies!  This is my last catching-up post!  Yay! =D  I may have other posts up about older things, but they will all be newly crafted posts just for this blog =).

Hey Beauties!

So here we go, I will finally be caught up with my Glymm posts!  This is the most recent bag that I have received =)  (June will be here any day, lol).

This month:  Glymm goes Green!

New Packaging

The cutest make-up bag!!  The new waste-less packaging means that all of the goodies now come in this adorable little bag =).   I think it is the perfect size to slip into your purse.  Not too small to hold anything, but not so big that it will take over your whole bag.  Plus look at the colour! =D

The inside is super easy to clean too, so no worries if something spills.

See what I mean about not being too small!  Look at what this baby holds =)

For  Her: “Edgy, sexy, impulsive.  Shock yourself and everyone around you with this fierce bouquet of passionflower.”

Top Notes: Passionflower, pink peony, poppy flower

Mid Notes: liquid chocolate accord, blackberry, narcisse, jasmine

Base Notes: vanillin, patchouli, ambers, skin musk

For Him: “turn down the lights, amplify the sound.  ace on impulse.  Get addicted to this juicy scent.  IT’s fersh and leaves a lasting impression.”

Top Notes: Clementine, Purple Lavender, cucumber

Mid Notes: Psmanthus, black pepper, cardamom, black basil

Base Notes: Chocolate, Tobacco, Ambreine, Cashmeran musk, Patchouli

First goodies: CK one Shock for him and for her.  Samples give about 35 sprays.  Full sizes are 50mL/$45.

I used the one for her on a recent girls night, and was pleasantly surprised!  I don’t know what kind of smell I was expecting, but I don’t like super strong florals…  This was really nice.  A bit of floral, but also sort of fruity and musky.

All of my friends liked it too =D

I haven’t smelled the one for him.  My fiance doesn’t wear cologne ever either, so I’m really not sure what I’m going to do with this.  Maybe I’ll just wear it if i like how it smells =)

Next sample is NuMe Hydro Punch conditioner.  Up to 4 uses (20mL).  Full size is 250mL/$24.99.

I haven’t used this sample yet, more of my delayed gratification tactics =P.  I’ve been waiting for a time where I would specifically want really nice shiny hair.

What the description says:  “Turn dull and damaged hair into vibrant, healthy strands that you can’t help but twirl all day long.  A punch never sounded so appealing.  This conditioner is packed with Argan oil, fatty acids, vitamin E and powerful antioxidants.”

Ok, this one I’m going to rave about!!  This is Coola Cucumber mineral face matte finish sunscreen with SPF 30.  I really didn’t notice any cucumber scent, which I liked.

“Infused with certified organic ingredients like vitamins, antioxidants, Shea butter and borage seed oil.”  So it’s great for your skin too!  Sample size is 5mL (about 4 uses).

It is a physical sunscreen, meaning the active ingredients are Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide.  These minerals sit on top of your skin and immediately form a protective layer that reflects the UVA and UVB (yes they are broad spectrum) rays away from your skin.  This is different from chemical, and more common, sunscreens that contain ingredients such as avobenzone and oxybenzone.  These chemicals need time to absorb into your skin, meaning you have to apply 20 minutes before sun exposure.  They then absorb the UVA/UVB rays and this changes their chemistry, causing them to lose effectiveness.  Also oxybenzone might actually be a carcinogen when exposed to UV radiation!  yikes…  These sunscreens need multiple active ingredients to fully protect you from all UVB and UVA I and UVA II rays.  (UVB burns and UVA causes cancer).

This sunscreen goes on so light!  It is transparent (an improvement from the typical white ‘zinc nose’ that you see on lifeguards so often =p).  They claim that it makes a perfect primer, so I figured I would try this out today.  It works!  It kept me from getting shiny all day, made my foundation go on smoothly, and smoothed out the appearance of my pores.  Talk about bang for your buck!  I have been wearing this for 10 hours, and my face still feels great.  I am in love with this!

Just as a nice little bonus:  Coola products are on Haute Look today!   go check it out =D  I bought myself a full size (50mL) for only $18, it retails for $36.  Coola also donates a portion of their sales to cancer research =)  http://www.coolasuncare.com/

Next up, Mereadesso Lip Treats.

This is kind of a full size sample, it is one full size lip treat, but they actually sell in packages of 2 for $28.  I got the deep burgundy colour which sheers out really nicely on the lips!!  The other options to get were a light pink or a clear balm.

“Delight your lips with moisture and a punch of desired colour with this new and innovative Lip Treat.  This exceptionally moisturizing and soothing lip balm not only tints your lips but can also be layered to give them more intense colour.  What’s more?  It doubles as a primer for gloss.  It will enhance shine and keep your gloss in place longer.”

It certainly feels amazing on the lips!  Very smooth and soft and moisturizing, and I love the colour.  I haven’t tried it with gloss over-top yet though,  I don’t really think it needs it.

Next is a pair of skincare products form Caudalie.  The Vinosource SOS Thirst Quenching Serum and Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet.  Samples are 1mL each (about 3 uses)  These were included and meant to be used together.  I haven’t used them yet as I got this box just after I started using Origins, and I am so in love with Origins it’s hard to want to try anything else!

Serum:”Give your skin a splurge of hydration and restore moisture balance for softer mor supple skin.  This high potency serum captures and continually diffuses water deep within the skin to impart intense hydration.”  Full size is 30mL/$48

Sorbet: “Save your skin with this moisturizer.  Your face will feel refreshed, hydrated and comfortably soft.  This gel-cream has immediate and long-lasting calming properties.  It awakens the skin’s hydration mechanisms and replenishes it’s water reserves.”  Full size is 40mL/$38.

I used these while on a trip to Vancouver to visit my sister.  They definitely felt nice, but they weren’t so over the top amazing that I felt that I HAD to have them.  At this price I probably won’t purchase the full size of either of these.

and Finally (see, this baby was packed full of awesome stuff!) also from Caudalie, their Crushed Cabernet Scrub.  Full size is 150g/$29.  Sample is 60g.

“This natural, wine-inspired body scrub reveals softer and healthier skin.  Along with its coarse granules it also contains the 6 draining and cellulite fighting organic essential oils of the Contouring Concentrate – so boost your slimming regimen!”

I haven’t used this yet, as my shower is crammed full of products already and I have many backups waiting…  I’ve told myself I need to get to work on using them up and not try anything new for a while.  This might be a handy little container to take traveling though!!

As you can see these boxes are amazing!  So many great goodies =)
