NOTD: Geometric Orange

Hey Beauties!

It has been a long time since I have posted a nail of the day post.  I tried out a little bit of free-hand geometric designs to go along with my bright summer colour.  Let me know what you think!

These are the various tools that I needed to do this manicure:  (The Orly top coat should be Seche Clear base coat… oops!)  Sally Hansen “Poppy”, China Glaze “White On White”, Pop Beauty (no name as far as I know), and Butter London “P.D. Quick Topcoat”.

Here’s a better view of the brushes that I used.  These are just cheap synthetic nail brushes that I bought on eBay.  A long, skinny striping brush to make the initial lines; and a short flat topped brush as well as a short angle brush to fill in the black and white squares.

Here is the result!  Please excuse that the geometric shapes aren’t all perfect like most of the photos that I see on Instagram…  this was my first go, and being all artistic and good at drawing isn’t my strong point!

I hope you like this design!  I was originally going to do my ring and middle fingers with the patterns, instead of the index and ring fingers.  What do you think?  Would you have liked that better?  I think I would have.  Oh well, next time!

This manicure is actually coming off right after I post this.  It’s starting to chip =(.  But it wore for about 4 days very well!

NOTD: Christmas Edition!

Hey Beauties!

Today’s post is going to be about the nails that I will be wearing Christmas Day =).  I can’t believe it is almost here!  This year has flown by, I’ve been very busy =).

My Right Hand

I have China Glaze “Phat Santa” on my first three fingers, topped with China Glaze “Ruby Pumps”, for a festive sparkly red.  Then I have Orly “Luxe” on my ring finger with designs in Butter London “British Racing Green”.

My Left Hand

On my pinkies I tried something new.  I have China Glaze “White on White” (I think?  It’s packed away now so I can’t check!) and the candy cane stripes are done with striping tape.  I ordered a whole bunch on eBay (for about $2), and they finally came, so I figured I would try them out.  It is fairly easy to work with, but very thin.  If you lose the end good luck finding it again!  The biggest issue I have with it is that the ends peel up a bit, and I’ve had to file them down.  Also the colour seemed to fade really fast.  This was a bright sparkly red, but now looks more pink…  You need a couple coats of good thick top-coat over top to make them feel smooth.  I will keep trying these as I have more than I could use in a lifetime, and will keep you posted!

I hope you liked my Christmas Nails!

Please tweet me photos of your festive nails, I love to see them and get inspired!  @wstcoastbeauty
